NOVA Due Process is an independent informational and advocacy-oriented project. It is not a law firm, government agency, school division, or adjudicative body.
Mission
Collect, preserve, organize, and explain information concerning special-education due-process proceedings in Northern Virginia, with particular attention to meaningful participation and adjudication on the merits.
Publication Standard
Distinguish allegations, first-hand accounts, public records, and official findings. Identifiable private submissions should not be presented as established fact merely because they were submitted.
Independence
The project may critique institutions and procedures while maintaining a clear distinction between advocacy, documentation, commentary, and adjudicated findings.
Privacy
Private submissions are intended to remain non-public unless separate permission is obtained, the information is already lawfully public, or disclosure is legally required.
Editorial approach
The project should prioritize original source documents, public decisions, contemporaneous records, and clearly attributed first-hand accounts. Where a proposition is contested, the site should identify it as disputed rather than converting an allegation into a finding.
Where records permit comparison across proceedings, the project may identify patterns, inconsistencies, recurring procedural issues, or questions warranting further public scrutiny.
